Remote25 and the Live template.als mystery

Post by damoo2000 » Sat Oct 11, 2003 2:05 pm

In the manual for the Remote 25 it mentions a 'template.als file within the Ableton file included on the Remote CDRom. It states it has to be copied to the Live prefs directory. I dont seem to have it on my CD. I have asked Novation about this but as yet I have recieved no reply. Can anyone shed some light on this and/or provide the template?

It doesn't exist. i think I read somewhere that they would put it online when they sort their website out. till then you're best off creating it yourself - you'd have to program the remote 25 a bit yourself anyway as they seem to have messed up ableton preset in it a bit also.

Yep, love the ReMote as I do, there's quite a difference between what Novation said and did/do about it-it's a fantastic piece of hardware but quite a few of the templates are wrongly programmed, still no promised new templates appear available and although an OS 9 driver was promised (and is still mentioned there on novation's page) it now appears that "if we do release a driver for OS9, it will be a bonus, but please don't rely on it." Yeah, yeah, I know 9's legacy software (Live still runs better in 9!) but saying something/s then not following through on it grates a little. If I were you I'd drop novation a line to find out what's happening and to encourage them to take care of their customers a little more. In the meanwhile, I'm hoping, not relying, on that bonus.
