Ableton Live 5: VSTi ^%$%%^ :/

i have just installed Ableton Live 5 and... i have a little problem :/

1. first of all, i can only load one of my VST instruments simultaneously - for example, when i load Battery 2 i can't load a soft synth with it.
if i do, Battery closes itself and the synth pops up instead of it.. why? is it supposed to be like that? i mean, i can't use two or three VST instruments at the same time? (of course i checked the multiple plug-ins windows option, but it seems to work only for VST effects plug-ins... it's weird, since i can load as many VST FX plug-ins as i want, and i can open and close each one of them independently..

2. and another strange thing is... each time i load any one of my VST instruments it pops up just wherever it wants, like it doesn't remember its last window position, and sometimes it pops up almost somewhere outside, so that i can only see a small piece of it and have to drag it into the main window... i've been using cubase for a while, it works fine within it. i never confronted anything like that.

i'd be greatful for any answer since i've searched the web and couldn't find none :/

1. check manual / preferences window - and change settings for vst window params.
2. dunno, never had that problem

are you trying to do this on a single track?

you can only have one instrument per track, but of course you can have as many effects as you'd like

Hi,

If you just bought and registered Live 5, why don't you upgrade to version 6. Then you can use racks to layer several synths on one track.
