Recording live instruments

What is everyone using to record guitars, vocals, etc.? Currently I am using an M-Audio JamLab that enables me to connect my guitar via USB. The problem I am having in Live is that there is a slight delay between the time I play a note and the time I can hear it through Live. I don't have this problem in other programs such as Garageband. Any ideas as to why this might be happening? Also, what is everyone else using to record instruments?

Try reducing your audio buffer size!!!
