Midi controlling menu options.. is it possible?

Post by Enots » Wed Nov 15, 2006 6:17 pm

Hey, I just got a Novation X Station. I was wondering if it's possible to execute menu commands like undo, record quantize, etc. via midi switches?

By the way, the x station is well built. good bargain for what it does

Yes, there is a way this can be done with some third party software. You can watch a video of Kid Beyond on the main Ableton site where he explains how he uses a certain piece of software to convert MIDI information into multiple keystrokes in Live.

Watch the video at http://www.ableton.com/_common/download ... beyond.mov

By the way, this guy is fucking amazing! Well worth watching regardless!

Yo thanks man! that's really insightful! I'll search more into that. Having full midi control over menu options via midi control surfaces would add to the hands on life feel and keep me from scrunching over the laptop while creating on the fly. thanks
