A month or two ago I was asking for everyone's input (guitarist Live users) on +/- of getting a Gibson Les Paul.
Well, yesterday I got a 2006 Standard, Cherry Sunburst.
All I have to say is.....HELL YEAH.
Great tone, amazing sustain. Worth the $2K.
Thanks for the help, all.......can't wait to throw down some new tracks with it.

It is a fcking amazing guitar - but do you use it enough to get the most out of it? i feel that with an inferior guitar but with the right modelling tones (such as Guitar Rig or a.n. other amp modelling sim) you can get fcking great sounds out of a lesser guitar.
i love guitar and have been playing guitar for years. but personally i don't use enough clean guitar tones in my productions to justify such an expenditure.
however, if you are rockin it out with guitar in any sort of professional capacity, then i say enjoy my friend, enjoy that beautiful instrument.
