Routing live for dj'ing alongside a conventional set up.

Post by tunetracker » Tue Nov 28, 2006 1:00 am

Please help!

I'm trying to set live up so that I can use it in conjunction with my dj set up of 2 cdj's and mixer.

I've got an M-Audio Audiophile sound card which has 1 line input and 2 x stereo outputs so I think what i'm trying to do should be poss.

Basically my idea was to have my cdj's running into 2 separate channels on the mixer as normal. Send the master output of live (output 1/2 on the soundcard) into a 3rd channel on the mixer. Finally, so I can record my mixes, send the master output on the dj mixer back into the line in on the soundcard and then to have the monitors connected to line outputs 3/4 on the soundcard to that I can hear it all.

Problem is I can't seem to make it happen! I've played around with the input and output configuration on the soundcard but still no joy.

I'm probably being a dumb ass but any help appreciated.

Cheers, JT

in Live hit the audio preferences under options
activate all the sound card outputs
track 1 - records the mix - set input to in 1/2 from mixer, output to main
live master out - 3/4 sound card to PA
tracks 2-?? your Ableton DJ stuff - out 1/2 sound card - you can do this by sending all your Ableton DJ tracks to a send and send that send out 1/2, not the main, the main hits the PA after it goes through your mixer.

sorted, thanks.

had to set the soundcard to play the 1/2 input out of 3/4 instead of 1/2 as it was set up.

can't wait to get dj'ing on it now! Beats 2 cdjs and an efx!
