What was the element that made that Manchester Sound? It's the rhythm but I can't put my finger on it, similar to skiffle with a double snare but...

Great movie, dug the part where 'that guy' jumps on the Happy Monday's stage and does his 'swim' dance, sets the pace for the whole scene, or when Stephen Morris is left on the rooftop, forgotten, playing the same drum riff over and over and over again, or the producer recording silence out in a field, or...
