You can only DJ with a PC because they sound warmer.

Everything mac is expensive - that's the price you pay for buying into a platform with a 3% market share.... ;)

do you have another computer for your home?

will you be working on music at home or gigging more?

i have an imac, but think it would be a hassel to bring to a gig. and i have an ilugger bag for it.

if you plan on gigging a lot then get the macbook. but for around the house the imac is sure nice. if you get the imac go for the 20" or 24" screen. i bought a 17" when they first came out and regret not getting the 20" that was available a the time.

I play with imac intel core 2 duo.

Time ago i use ibook , but the big screen on imac, its perfect, the mac work asbolutly cool you not have thing about temperature, specially on that clubs with high amount of people and super hot temperature or summer places : )

For make portable i use modified SKB
http://media.zzounds.com/media/brand,zz ... e48835.jpg

I remove the aluminium mixer support of this skb , and make special foam, for move and have super ATA protection for travels.

Imac, + fast trak pro + my 15" inch touch screen, for my monotouchlive system, all inside of the skb : ) and suepr protected.

Its true, macbook / pro its very little and portable, i know, but with imac you have this pros:

1: Work very cool
2: Imac core 2 duo 1.8 ghz with gma graphics, its not epxensive, and faster
3: You have 7200 rpm HD and 160gb !
4: Big 17 screen
5: More USB ports if you need more : )
6: On clubs its very easy some stupid or drunk guy can splash beer or other drink over you computer.
In this case on macbook or mackbook pro, little drops over the keyboard or mouse pad, can transfer to main board and your macbook /pro just die.
This happen to me time ago, in accident and one g4ibook die, and too many times happen with no destructive situation but this happen, specially on clubs where you play very close of the people dancing.

On imac the only way you can demaged its if you put all your bear on the screen and splash a lot of drink over screen.
Its the only way, imac have wonderfull constructions, aditional to that y not use keyboard for play live, so i not use keyboard, just mouse and midi controller.
Anyway if your keyboard its demaged for some drink, just can cheap remplace.

The bad point: well!! not its a notebook, so no its a super portable, but is the best desktop portable solution.

For me its the best !!.......

Sorry for my english, my native language its spanish guys !!

Cya!

Remember one thing, the portability (if that its the correct word) never can be compared with the little and nice macbook : )

So if you want super portable go for mackbook.

I really suprised to see sasha, continue using imac on some gigs, sahsa travel a lot compared with us : )
So i think imac not its a big toruble.
Anyway sahsa some times use mackbook pro another imac........

I decide use imac due 3 important reason for me, big and faster HD, cool work, big screen : )

And dont forgot SKB, its the best way to move with the imac. if you no want broke !!

The only moment when i missed the portability its at the end of night, when sun its very high, and back to home with some drinks ..... hick ! :)

Cya

Personally just couldn't be bothered carrying an iMac around when you can have a MacBook Pro 17" with 3GIG of Ram and a large fast internal.

If you can pay !! good,

imac core 2 duo, can support 3gb : ) (model 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo jus 1199U$)

Mackbook pro 17 inch $2,799.00 !!

With that money you can buy imac with 3gb ram + macbook with 2gb ram : )
And go with all your firend to bar and pay some drinks with extra money : ) jijijij

Anyway if have money, and want very portabel 17 inch, system.............go for that : )
