VST Native Instruments with Ableton 6

Post by ZENIT » Fri Dec 01, 2006 4:05 pm

I bought a native instruments Battery 3 & FM8, but when I install the whole stuff, Ableton doesn't recognize it as VSTi and so I can't use them. I also tried to make a rescan in their installation folders but it doesn't work. Coud you explain me how to use this programs with ableton live 6?
I use Win Xp Pro SP2
thx

My guess is that you have installed the VSTs into a directory other than your default VST directory. When installing NI stuff it will ask: where do you want the VST. By default it suggests c:\Program Files\Native Instruments\VST Plugins (or something similar). You need to change this to your standard VST directory; I use: c:\Program Files\VSTPlugins

Search your HD for FM8.dll. If somewhere obscure you can either just copy it into your VST area or uninstall and then reinstall correctly. I would take option 2 just in case option 1 messes anything up with libraries etc.

Good luck.
