live freezes after analyzing tracks

Post by membrain » Tue Dec 12, 2006 8:32 pm

live 6 on 1.33ghz G4 laptop.

I am having this problem with Live freezing after analyzing tracks.

I've fired up activity monitor to try and work out what's going on and I can see Live working away when it's analyzing but even when the activity stops, it's unresponsive - or so slow to respond it's unusable. if I analyse a track, save the set and load it again, it works fine! i thought it was because I was dragging and dropping from iTunes but it does the same thing if I use lives browser.

Maybe it's because I'm using the computers audio output and an iMic as an aggregate device in the audio preferences (to get a master and a cue output - it works but the two outputs are not in sync, the que is a bit later).

What's throwing me is being able to save and load and have everything work fine with no change to the setup. Any ideas?

version

I'm using version 6.0.1.
"A potential crash when dragging (not loading) a Live set
into Live, where the dragged Live set contains modified
compressed audio files. (mp3 files for instance)"

this is one of the bugfixes in the new Beta - maybe it's got something to do with it.
Anyone having similair problems?

new Beta

No, I like things to be out of beta before I use them in a live situation. Which is why I bought this piece of crap software!
I have had a look at the bug lists and havn't found much that sounds like my problem. Have you had a similair problem that has been fixed by installing a beta? Or is this a "just reboot" kind of solution?

just got an answer from Ableton that fixed my problem.
After deleting "preferences.cfg" and "undo.cfg" ( which is what Ableton support told me) and getting rid of my live 5 folder and the copy of the library I was using "to be safe", Live now works beautifully. It's analysing so much faster and more responsive when it is.
