Oh, the Gear....decisions, decisions...

Post by tribewalker » Tue Dec 12, 2006 10:38 pm

So, i shall be coming up to a decision soon as to what my first piece of gear should be....as i have never had any outboard gear im sorta excited and yet torn at the same time since im gonna be limited in what i can and cannot get ( not to mention budget and all ) .....

so im looking at these possibilities...

ideally, an maudio Axiom 49 ( or maybe 25 ) and a korg Padkontrol and perhaps a BCR 2000.

failing that.....

Its probably going to be JUST the axiom 49....

or maybe the padkontrol AND the BCR2000.

or, the axiom 25 and the bcr....

ugh, i just cant decide.....

thoughts?

I have an Axiom 25, and really like it. Good feel to the keys (for my taste, anyway), and lot's of additional controls. It's a bit bulky compared to other 25 note 'boards, but it's liveable.

I also have an Oxygen 49. If I were to do it over, I would have gotten a 61 instead....more keys to get a more piano-ish range without going with a big space hog. 49 keys is an alright size, but if I were to have just 2 boards, I'd prefer 25 and 61.

korg Padkontrol and perhaps a BCR 2000.
Sounds good to me, I was going to buy the exact same units. They look good together!

well.....

i havent actually really defined myself in a genre although a number of my friends seem to think im a breaks guy - which is cool, why fight what come natural, right?

anyway, ive been advised that something like the padkontrol is really good if you are doing breaks....but on the other hand, im getting really tired of drawing in midi notes on a piano roll by hand.....

maybe i should just get the axiom 25 and the padkontrol......hrmm....

Sounds like a winning combination. You can always add the BCR at a later date.
MacBookDJ.com, obviously.

Axiom + BCR. as much as I love the PadK, you don't really need the pads to begin with, as there is enough on the Axiom for some nice drum action.

The knobs are crucial, though. And I'd recommend the BCR to anyone.
