1 key to trigger individual notes of sequence: round robin

Post by Vinc T » Wed Dec 13, 2006 9:27 am

hi all,

maybe a dump question but i could not find a easy way to do it, am i missing something?

is there an easy way to have a 'round robin' thing in Live? So what i mean, using one key which triggers each individual note (one at a time) of a sequence by hitting one and the same key all the time.

thanks

seems like something you could maybe do with follow actions?
P4 3.4G 2MB, RME 9652, nord g2, g4+digi 001, axiom 49, peavey 1600X, evolver, gigastudio

hmm, i ll give it a try. the best would be to keep the whole sequence in one clip, otherwise you need an endless amount of clips to play a tune...

thanks

Many people have tried to do this before.. and failed. My self included. Best bet and easiest option is EnergyXT with a midi plugin called something like "recordloop"... I forgot its name. The site for them is down to atm:

mbp 2.66, osx 10.6.8, 8GB ram.

thanks for the info! site still seems to be down. Let's think about other solutions...

if you're on the osx side of things, controlaid allows you to map a range of notes to one note, and will cycle through that range with each press of the input note. That sounds like what youre after...

clear, but how to manage playing the same note triggering different clips? I want to play with mt e-snaredrum a melody....I can't change, after hitting the snare, the note out of the snare al the time, it has to stay the same.

i think it will work with bome's midi translater, the pc type of this program, to create a cycle through, but it still would be nice if it could be solved within Ableton :)

i guess a huge amount of clips with bome's is just the solution for now

ah sorry, yes i misunderstood

only way i can see to do it without another program is to use multiple clips and multiple notes...

yes, how to make it 'looping', i mean after launching 10 clips after eachother, how to start with the first one again..... than the solutions seems to be very simple :)

but if its a follow action you cant make it be a scene control can you?
and you cant

what he wants is like if you had Run DMC "It's Like That!"
to play (on one button)
*tap* "It's"
*tap* "Like"
*tap* "That!"
(and keep repeating that sequence)

personally id rather have 3 different triggers :shrugs:

phat conductor was headed down this road, I read that thread, I'll see if I can find it.

you can get clips to control scenes with midi yoke.
