Cant Open MP3s?

using 6.0.1.

When I try n open a file i get..

The file "c:/blahblah.mp3" could not be encoded using direct show (Error Code - 2147467259"

Same MP3s work on my friends installation thsi afternoon

any ideas??

you dont open a mp3 using lives File>Open dialog...

When you say same mp3, do you mean the exact same file, or do you mean an mp3 of the same song. Your copy of the file could be corrupted somehow.

I was at a friends studio today he showed me some stuff on ableton, I warped a load of tracks, copied the whole lot onto a cd.

now i try and drag the mp3s into the program and I get that error message.

thought as u said cd must be corrupt but getting that on all MP3s on my hard disc as well
