Recording voice

Hi you,

I'm new here, but haven't found a solution on my small problem in the forum.
I use a Mac powerbook, and an Inspire 1395 soundcard.

When I try to record voice via a mixer and the Inspire, I cannot get a signal into Live.
I plug the phones to the soundcard and I get sound there, and I connect the soundcard with Firewire.

I Live I have set everything as I should (as far as I know, but I'm writing here so...)
I just can't get a signal into Live

I've never recorded voice before, only guitar and keys...

Is there any special way I should have the settings in Live???

If you have recorded guitars and keys before,do the same with the voice.

Hi, I have recorded guitars via Guitarport and keys via Reason...
Now it's the first time I connect a mic in a mixer and into the Inspire soundcard...

I know I should make some "obvious" changes in preferences, but cannot get a signal in the audio-channel in Live

Any tips?

I'm a new mac-owner as well, so it could be some settings in the computers audio-setup of course...but I have tried but have not succeded in solving this
Any tips regarding the mac-setup is most welcome as well
