Is there a way to program a transform button. Volume on and off to get the DJ transform fader fx.

I have no clue of that DJ term what you are using, but try adding a Utililty plugin to the last effect on your effect chain, turn the knob to the minimum and press the "power off switch".

Then when needed, turn it on, and turn it on again. Instant kill.

It can be also mapped to a midi knob or a button, or a single key on your computer.

The true DJ transform would act like this

As button is held down: sound
As button is released: no sound

I think it would be possible but it would take some figuring out.

On my Behringer BCR2000, within its programming, i can program a button to activate as it is held down and deactivate as released. Then you would have to find a way for Ableton to allow sound while button is activated and not when released.

you can transform off a fader too, it doesnt have to be a mute button
try setting the crossfader on "fast cut" instead of a slower curve

I know someone who was successful with this by using DestroyFX's MidiGater plug-in

Also, the newish feature of being able to assign a min and max range to a controller assignment is cool for this

i.e. use a fader and map 0-63 for a track mute button to be OFF,

64-127 for it to be ON

or even 0-42 OFF, 43-85 ON, 86-127 OFF - so you can move it to OFF in either direction

from the live 6.0.8beta6 announcement:
Until now, when mapping MIDI CC to a on/off button, the button is switched when the MIDI CC value crossed 64.
Now, it is possible to set up min and max value for such a mapped button.
The idea is that when the CC value is between min and max, the button is switched on (or off in reverse mode).
If the CC value is outside the min and max range, the button is switched off (or on in reverse mode).
this should let you set up transform style switches, but at the moment it's only in the betas...
