Waves L3
Why waves L3 Multi+Ultra Maximizer does work on my ableton 6?
I'm trying wave shell vst 5.2 and it doesn't work.
Unistalling and installing again but nothing.
Any suggestions?

I'm using (on my own risk) RenBundle und NativeBundle (Waveshell 5.2) in Live without any problems. Don't have the L3 .. just the older Maximizers.
No way as long Waves does not change the support. Maybe the upcoming relase of waveshell V6 will help.
I had the same problem with Live 5 but now the L3 works great with Live 6.
A day without House Music isn't the end of the world but is so damn close.

There are plenty of good plug in from manufacturers other than Waves, many would argue better, more transparency and for quite a bit less money.
Heck, I like plugins by Kjaerhus and Voxengo that sometimes sound better and cost a fraction. Definately Sonalksis and PSP make plugins that I like a lot better than many Waves offerings, not to say that Waves isn't good, it just has a certain 'sound' that people either seem to love or hate without the middle ground.
Often it is just people who don't know how to use the plugins and just whack it on with a certain preset that cause Waves plugins to sound less than optimal.
The L3 is an acquired taste, many people don't know how to get the best out of it and then it makes your music sound like arse. It is a good plugin if used correctly in the right circumstances though.

Waves Issues
Good news,
the waves plugs work with Live 5.2 - 6.0.3 wo problems but you have to do a little workaround:
1. The Waves Plugs are Directx plugs so they need a dll to get them to run. The prob are not the plugs but the Waves waveshell.dll (known issue!).
2. Workaround:
2.1 Load and install the free FFX4 from vincet burells site (install it like any other VST plug)
http://vincent.burel.free.fr/download/f ... lDemo3.zip
2.2 Use VB_ffx4 As the plugin, open the plugin window and select the waves plug you'd like to use. (All platinum plugs worked for me)
Regards from Martin

I have had no problems whatsoever running Waves VST plugins (Ren Maxx, Masters and Musicians) on Live 5.2.2 under Windows XP SP1.
I demoed the SSL plugins and although the GUI was a bit slow to initialise the plugins functioned fine.
leedsquietman has a point about the L3 although it wasn't really warranted! I chose the Masters bundle in the end, rather than L3, because it's more tweakable and thus harder to misuse through over-use of presets.

WAVES
Hy all,
again, the WAVES PLUGS are DIRECTX Plug Ins. As far as i know there is no WAVES VST Plugin. WAVES itself also uses a "workaround" called WAVESHELL to get the plugs to work as VST.
We had exactly the same discussion (L2) here more than one year ago: (Ended with: We are working on that...).
So its not that bad to use another VST Wrapper...

Waves
Fact from Waves Support:
Q: "I updated to V5 and now my Abelton Live crashes."
A: Waves doesn’t officially support Ableton Live. Waves V5 VST will crash Ableton Live. It works ok with Audio Units.
Please go to: HD > Library > Audio > Plug-ins > VST – and drag the Waveshell VST 5.0 out of that folder, whenever using Ableton.
Note: If you don’t use other VST applications (Nuendo and Cubase) you can delete the Waveshell VST 5.0 permanently.
