Hi everyone,
I'm brand new to Ableton Live and this forum, but I'm totally amazed by the Live and all it does. However, I'm having some trouble and could use some advice.
I'm running Live 5 on a Pentium M 2.0 Laptop, with 1 GB of RAM and Windows XP Home.
I've been working on some simple stuff to get to know the software. I have two elements in the clip view, one is a beat (sampled Cajon drum) and the other is NI Elekrik Piano. When I load the Elektrik Piano, I get a warning that it is memory heavy and loading it could lead to problems, but it loads okay, and once loaded it plays fine with no artifacts or dropouts.
I have 3 separate scenes. The first is just the Cajon. The second is Cajon and E. Piano. The third is also just Cajon and E. Piano.
I have turned the MIDI clips of the E. Piano into audio (in hopes of making it easier for the laptop to digest).
The quantize setting in the control bar is set to 1 bar and the groove settings on all the clips are straight. All are set to trigger mode.
I launch the first scene and there are no problems--a straight beat. When I press the launch button for the second scene, there is a sort of skip, or hiccup and it does not start on beat no matter what I do. I've tried all different quantize settings and checked everything I can think of. You know what it sounds like when you are playing a loop and you suddenly move the start point around: The loop does a wierd jump as it tries to respond to the new information. That is what is happening here--it jumps and then starts playing the next scene, but not the way it is supposed to.
I've loaded up demo songs that came with Live and messed with launching scenes and checking settings and can't see what the problem could be since the demo songs work just fine.
Is it possible my RAM is overloaded by the Elektrik Piano?
I'd welcome any thoughts. Many thanks!

Thanks longjohns--I realize that I didn't do that. I had deleted the MIDI clips after I bounced them to audio, but I did not actually remove the E.Piano.
As it turns out that was the trouble--it was just too huge for my laptop I think. The file size on it was nearly 600 Mb.
I started another Live set doing the same sort of thing, but using the Simpler for my different instruments and it worked like a dream--no trouble at all.
Sounds like I need some more RAM...
I appreciate the quick response however--its nice to have someplace to come for help
