Hot swap browser not work with rack devices?

Post by jb61264 » Wed Dec 27, 2006 4:18 pm

I was browsing through some Impulse kits and noticed that the hot-swap browswer did not stay highlighted whenever a 'rack' of devices was included...I have to reclick the hot-swap browswer icon each time and when I select a new kit that has a 'rack' associated with it, the highlight goes away...anybody else notice this? maybe this is expected behavior with racks that you can't browse them?

I use the swap button a lot in instrument racks. Maybe we're doing something different. Are you swapping the whole rack or just the impulse?

I'm swapping the whole rack...so its the swap icon all the way to the left and down to the lower half of the rack bar. It will let me highlight the swap button but when I chose a new impulse rack, it "de" highlights and I have to re-highlight it again...

I don't know how much help I can be but I'll keep answering anyway ;)

What confuses me about your post is the "lower half" bit--

The swap button for the rack is at the top, right next to the save icon.

I just did some swapping of both entire racks, and some individual chains within the racks, and the swap buttons aren't getting deselected.

Perhaps the problem is that closing the chain view, or the chain content view turns of hot-swap mode? Opening doesn't do it, incidentally. So if you check the chains when you're auditioning rack presets, hot-swap mode goes off (really annoying behavior IMO). Though maybe this is not what you're doing, since the hot-swap button appears in the lower left if the rack is completely closed (no macro view).

Ok...try this, drag "Z-Groove" into a midi channel...I have the Macro Controls and Chain List hidden so the hot swap icon for this appears next to the "Z-Groove" title. Highlight the hot swap icon...then as soon as you "test" the kik sample, it de-highlights and in order to swap another device, I have to highlight it again. I do this, then select Upetty and it swaps fine but if I want to hear the kik sample...as soon as I click the arrow to hear the kik sample the hot swap de-highlights.

Maybe its just me but I would think it should stay highlighted until I un-highlight it?

You guys see this?

This does happen -- but when you press the arrow you select the impulse, and selecting a different device always disables hot-swap mode. If you play the kik with midi it won't disable hot-swap (also if you hit "a" with keyboard midi on and at the right octave). A more annoying thing though is that arming a track (which I always forget to do) disables hot-swap mode, which I suppose is justified in that you select the track that you arm when you arm it. Closing chain view disabling hot-swap still seems really inexplicable though.

I guess that's the difference, that we're not listening to it by playing the cells with the mouse.
