Very Simple Question

Im just starting out with Live, so forgive my stupidity.

Insert midi track. Why do i sometimes get a channel with a different volume meter, circles, with no level control and no pan?????

Probably getting a narrower track that has some of the controls hidden.
The width defaults to be the same as the track to the left if I remember right.

when you talk about different level meter, does it just have dots instead of an actual green/red meter? not sure what you mean by differnet

The midi track has that meter with the circles if there is no instrument on that track.

yes, the meter looks like circles or holes and there is no volume control,or pan.
I will try as you say, but im pretty sure ive had instruments on those channels and still no volume control etc.
