how to trigger an evolver from live?

i've read the evolver manual and tried plenty of trial and error, but i'm still not getting it.

how does one trigger the evolver's in-board sequencer from live? i'm assuming i set up a MIDI clip in live, route it to the evolver, and then set the evolver's "trigger select" function accordingly. but no matter what i try i can't seem to figure out how to simply start the evolver's internal sequencer FROM live when i hit start -- i can only actually trigger MIDI notes from live, or some weird combination of MIDI notes + then the evolver taking over. very frustrating. there must be something (probably quite obvious) i'm doing wrong.

you have set up 2 things;

- Live to send sync..
- Evolver to receive sync..

Live;
go to preferences,
and set your midi out to send sync..

Evolver;
go to 'MIDI Clock' (main program, knob 8, upper right corner)
set clock to 'in'

you're done..

the original manual isn't that good..
more like technical papers..
