Setting up drum kits in Impluse?

Post by lithium » Fri Jan 12, 2007 7:59 pm

I'm wanting to make my own drum kits for Impulse but want to keep continuity with the kits that came with Live, so that the hits all meet up with my patterns. I know the slot 1 is normally a kick, slot 2 is a snare, slot 7 is a closed hat, slot 8 is an open hat. But what about the rest?

well, what else do you mean by continuity?

when im making new kits i usually spend a couple minutes making sure the levels are good and panning each sample around a little, and most importantly setting the start times so you catch the initial attack of the drum (for badly cut samples).

i have to say - i think impulse is really good for this sort of thing - alot faster than other comparable things ive seen.

I don't think there are defined slots for defined sounds, although like most people I put my kicks on slot 1 and hihats near the later slots.
