I am currently experiencing a problem where ableton crashes if i load an mp3 track with filename of around 58 characters or more. if i shorted the filename it'll load the file no problem. this has happened with all versions of ableton i have tried?

has any1 had a similar problem or know what it may be?

thanks.

Hello,

Are you using a PC with Quicktime installed on it? I think there is a bug in Quicktime PC version with file names longer than 56 or 58 characters.

hi.

yes i am using quicktime, if i uninstall should it work ok?

i have actually been able to find a work around :

this's madness and i have no way of explaining why ..... but this works!!

i have a really long file with 80 characters and discovered that it works when i load it.
if i load any other long filenames, within the same set, which previously didn't work they now work!!!

so doing this works :

load set
load really big filename
continue set using whatever files
no crash!!!

if i close the program and start it again and don't load the really long filename it always crashes!!

it only works if the large file is analysed each time i start a new set, so i have to delete it from the decoding cache each time

meant to say, why does it matter if quicktime is installed? what does that have to do with ableton? plus is there an alternative that i can use that'll work?
