will another gig of ram fix this

have a mbp 2.16 c2d with a gig of ram with a motu traveler

i am using a remote sl 37 to control 8 channels of softsynths for live jambient music (jamband + ambient)

the problem is anytime i change presets or even select tracks to do any kind of action (record enable, fire a clip ....)
I get hicups from live 6

it doesn't seem to be cpu related because that is generally below 50%
nor does the selection of ub softsynths seem to matter

i really hope this is ram related
