p4 3.06ghz - core2 macbook

Hi, a quick q if thats ok?
Thinking of upgrading my set up
Will i get a significant performance increase going from a 3.06ghz p4 1.2g ram running live 5 to a core 2 macbook 2ghz 2g ram running live 5.2 or 6?
I also plug
Stylus rmx, Reaktor 5 and occasionally Reason rewired..
As my live disk is v1.5 can i download the 5.2 update or reinstall the original disk and upgrade from that?
