right i still dont really understand,

you plug the controller either using a usb lead into a usb slot or a midi lead into a midi slot
(and install any usb drivers FIRST)

then go options>preferences>MIDIsync>then activate relevant midi ports

arm your midi track (below solo) load up an impulse or whatever and hammer away
