Midi Control of Guitar Rig in Live?

Post by pez » Wed Feb 07, 2007 4:23 am

A year or so I ago I had Guitar Rig working in Live 4. If I remember correctly, I had an "audio" track with my guitar signal routed through it to a "midi" track. The Guitar Rig plug-in was on the midi track and it's stereo outputs were routed to the main Live outputs.

Well here I am a year later with Guitar Rig 2 and Live 5 and something has changed. I can no longer get Guitar Rig to work on a midi track because I can no longer route audio to it. I can throw Guitar Rig on an audio track and it works fine but when I do this I lose the ability to control Guitar Rig with my FCB1010 midi foot controller.

Can someone please tell me how to get Guitar Rig 2 working with an audio track and still control it via midi in Live 5?

Hello,

Same thing happened to me... NI changed the plug with nary a mention.

Anywayz... I had to reset up my setup. I have a midi channel which the midi from my FCB comes in on... that's set to "in" and is routed to an audio channel which has the Guitar Rig 2 MFX plug on it, this channel is also set to "in" for monitoring.

I had to reassign all my FCB to G Rig assignments, but that actually goes pretty quick.

Note: you have to drop the Rig plug in the audio channel first then set the routing of the midi channel to G Rig...

works for me sept G Rig 2 clicks/pops like a mofo in Live on my Pbook so it's not very useable.

cheers

I have tried what you have suggested but I do not see the routing options that you described. I have Guitar Rig 2 on my audio track but there is no option on my midi track to send it to anywhere other than another midi track.

What did they change in Guitar Rig 2 that broke it?

How are you sending the midi track output to the audio track?

What version of Live are you using?

I'm using 6 but had the same setup in 5... part of my "Template".

In the midi track there are 5 drop downs... the fourth one down is set to the name of the audio channel where my Rig plug is. The fifth one is set to "GuitarRig2 MFX".

Otherwise I'm not sure... try making sure you set up the audio channel and G Rig plug first...

The key to fixing the problem was using the correct version of the plug-in.

"GuitarRig2 MFX" is the one that works.

Thanks.
