RANT!!!!!!! p.o.s computers and motherboards
RANT!!!!!!! p.o.s computers and motherboards
for the last 5 years i have been making music on pc's.. i went from a 500mhz pos to a 1ghz pos to a amd 64 bit 3000+ pos
with every one of these things i was excited about how i could have a whole studio of gear in my room and how i will finally be able to make the music i dream of.. but its not the case..every computer i have owned has crashed, had fried mother boards, memory issues, hard drive failure, driver's screwing with other drivers. viruses worms trojans, dead power supplys, dead pci slots, dead media drives, broken usb slots, video card issues and any other fucking thing that could go fucking wrong.. to top that off there are software problems live will crash in the middle of a song.. other apps will say that they have saved a file just for me to go back the next day and find nothing...
i am tired of pc'sssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!
and vista.. what a joke ......what a joke!!!!!!!
before anyone says get a mac i am on that.. i have wanted one for years but they are to expensive. you cant even get an old stone age g4 for under 600.00
and with mac switching to intel (the cheapest garbage maker of cpu's i have ever seen ) it makes me want to use computers for there original purpose.. calculations and word processing..and some internet..
anyways.. feel free to be pissed off with me

Sounds like you need to start doing more research to find out if there are conflicts with your hardware configuration before making purchases.

I upgraded to a Core 2 Duo E6600 with an ASRock motherboard for about £230. I already had good DDR RAM (not DDR2! just DDR is enough), and hard disks that likely wouldn't take that over £400 let alone £600.rbmonosylabik wrote:Right now 600 doesn't buy too much for a computer meant for audio.
Dollars on the other hand, well...

£230 = $449.121
add to that the RAM and HD and I'm sure you're over $600

Look for a setup thats STABLE, i've had good PCs and bad PCs and i've had bad luck with some motherboards. when building a pc dont just go for whats on top of the dollar - price - performance list, but get a motherboard that has GOOD driver support, get a warranty so if it breaks, you just stick another sucker in there and go back to work. if you find a driver that works, you stick with it, music needs stability more than performance, your not looking for a gaming rig.
