ableton, external comp, and motu 828mk2???

Can i use a MOTU 828nk2 with logic and especially Ableton live with an external compressor and use the ins out on the 828mk2 as a compressor buss and set this up within the software?

I want to use the on screen mixer and set up a buss so that i can route in the comporessor..


what ins/outs do i need to use and what do i need to set up on ableton?

Yes this is possible:

Make a sendtrack (A) on the sendtrack select AUDIO TO: EXT (lets say 3/4)
Output 3/4 of the 828 go to the compressor.
Output of the compressor are going back to the 828 (lets say 828-input 3/4)
Make an audiotrack with AUDIO FROM: EXT 3/4. en select IN instead of auto

Now when you send some audio to send A, it will go trough the compressor and back into ableton.

thanks will give this a go once back in the studio - will this work just like an outboard mixing desk then? no flanging on the compressor and will the "render" record the compressor on the buss?

is there a live play while render on Ableton like in Logic?
