Is there a program like BOME Midi Translator for Mac?

Post by idema » Sat Mar 03, 2007 5:52 am

I'm looking for something that will change the value of a MIDI note, into another one.

I've got a controller that outputs predetermined MIDI notes, and I can't adjust them on the controller, so I wanna change them in the signal path.

Any ideas?

Check out the midi scale and pitch plug ins that come with Live.

pitch shifts all notes the same amount

scale does one at a time. horizontal axis is the input, vertical is the output, play with it a bit. Scale treats all octaves the same, IOW C0, C1, C2 all get treated the same. You can use a rack to deal with C notes in different octaves (for example).

I think he wants to change the midi note before it hits live maybe ?

midipipe will work for that.
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

Yes, the issue seems to be for MIDI control, not tracking, so if it were done through scale or pitch plugs, it would have to be in conjunction with a loopback (IAC) - and that would be a mess probably. If there's a 3rd party program it would seem more likely to help (?)

thank you guys so much for replying, I'm really hoping to get this thing working, since it's such a great controller.

how's about controlaid? That's the closest equivalent to Bomes I can think of. Or does this not do midi-remapping?

It doesn't allow you to remap anything, the button assignments are predetermined...

This seems to be a lost cause until Ableton actually supports the product.

I'm going to be buying a Digi 003 next month for my Pro Tools control surface, so the AlphaTrack will be mainly used as a portable solution for recording automation and mixing in ProTools.

Thanks so much for the help! I really do appreciate it.
