You don't say if the guitar is electric or acoustic. iMic is a real inexpensive audio interface for po' folks. After that, the sky's the limit if you need a USB preamp and good microphones.

On a budget, you could try several things.

With an electric guitar, you could always plug it into the Audiophile (does it have DI?) and use some guitar amp sims.

With an acoustic, try building a cable with a 1/4" mono jack on one end to plug into the input on the Audiophile and a $2 Piezo pickup/transducer on the other end and tape the piezo to the body of the acoustic guitar. I've never actually tried this, but it may just work.

Thanks folks, but I was meaning software. I use electric through an effects unit and electro acoustic which also goes through the same unit. I'm really looking for recommendations on audio editing software and guitar sim software...

Amplitube? NI GuitarRig? There's plenty of guitar sims.

when you say "effects unit", do you mean a mulitfx stomp thing, or a proper amp modeller like a pod? if it's the former, then something like guitar rig or whatever, if it's the later, you don't need anything else.

though i wouldn't recommend di'ing an acoustic. but "buy a mic" isn't very helpful advice.
