if you set your recording input as wave output in the windows volume control you can sometimes record the audio directly into live using directx audio drivers while you play the dvd. it depends on the protection on the dvd i think whether this will work.
you can also plug a hardware cable from an audio out to an audio in, or you can rip the vob file (google for rippers) and separate the wave audio using something like virtualdub.... if you can't use the directx method, an audio cable really is the easiest...
Hp Elitebook 2.8Ghz. Live 7.0.14 & Live 8.1.5, XP Pro. and stuff...

I agree will all the above...but...worst case you can always play the DVD and rtecord the sound to a wav file (or mp3) with freeware like opD2D.

Dunno...I only use mac

It is unusual that anythign is exclusively mac though.
Re: the aiff file problem are you sure you are dragging it into an audio track not a midi track?
Maybe compress it first too to MP3.

he's got to turn off the compression in wiretaps preference pane.
That makes the recordings full aiffs, which ableton needs.
