sync locating problems

Im trying to sync up two powerbooks using Live for recording. Both computers lock up fine but if i stop and then restart at a different point in the song, the slaved powerbook just starts again from bar 1..Ive tried swapping from midi clock to MTC but then the slave receives no midi message atall!!

any help on this is mich appreciated!

I'll add that im using two identical g3 400 powerbooks running osx 10.24 and using midiman usb 2x2 interfaces
