Hi guys i'm new, hope you will help me! I'm selling my powerbook G4 just because i need more power for my VST, i don't have many cash to buy a macbook pro so i need some suggestion about notebook. I need a laptop of good quality and with much power, at first i was for DELL inspiron but i know it has a chipset FIREWIRE (ricoh) that gives problems with many audio FW (now i have a motu ultralite and i don't want to sell), i know some issues about toshiba too (c2d fan issues) what can i do? thanks a lot! bye

i think macbook is too little and i'll have to buy an external monitor too, it doesn't has a good grafic card, i know that is not important for music production but who knows in the future maybe... In italy a macbook pro basic configuration is 2000 euro, if you get it with 2gb ram 2200, too much!!! Another thing is i want to work with cubase again (first of my powerbook i worked with cubase sx). I don't know what to do, only Dell lets you configurate your laptop, with sony if you take the faster model you have the slower hard disk bucause they thing not much to the professional use (i think), toshiba many many problems... maybe i'll looking for a used macbook pro c2d...but i know i'll use only window and cubase so i think is a stupid thing isn't?
Good pc will cost you same if not more as Mac.

Multitouch in this case means it acts as both a touchscreen and a more acurate tablet with a special pen3dot... wrote:I dunno... cuz there's a touchscreen model, and a multitouch screen model which is 200$ more...Angstrom wrote:"multitouch display - use EITHER your finger or the digitiser pen" : from video at 1:13
its nothing , just mislabeling. not multitouch.

I don't think most software would work with a multi touch display unfortunately.3dot... wrote:I dunno... cuz there's a touchscreen model, and a multitouch screen model which is 200$ more...Angstrom wrote:"multitouch display - use EITHER your finger or the digitiser pen" : from video at 1:13

If you want maximum performance for the least money, DELL is usually the place to go. Some people don't like the build quality, but I've never had any problems. Regardless, spec out a Dell and use the price as a benchmark when shopping around.
