Good Filter Plug?

Post by Beatport » Mon Mar 12, 2007 2:07 pm

Can anyone recommend a good filter plug. I like autofilter, but maybe there's something a little fatter out there?

thanx.

CamelPhat is very good, I use it all over the place. Sonalksys have got a great low-pass filter too.. but it's a tad expensive, something like $250.
Awright Bawjaws, that smells lovely son, gies a wee taste!

Sonalksis TBK is $99.99. Sounds good, but a little light on features.

Volcano by FabFilter is really nice - highly recommended. Flexible mod and sounds good. Consider their Timeless plug as well... a lot of the same filter profiles as Volcano, but with really nice delay fx as well.

The ultimate, imo, is Filter Freak. Mix in the rest of the Sound Toys native bundle and you are cooking with jet fuel! Yes, it's dongled...

I should have also mentioned Ohmforce. Those cats make some very fat and nasty filters. Quad Frohmage is great. Look for the free Frohmage if you can still find it.

If you're looking for basic filtering, the Camelphat can be great and I use it quite often for some nice resonating filters (here's a lowfi example of the camelphat filter on a track I did: http://www.djstevechristian.com/music/B ... ssions.m3u). But, if you're looking for filtering w/all the bells and whistles, then definitely check out Fabfilter. That's probably my favorite for complex filtering.

Wow, $99.. didn't they release this with a $200-odd price tag at the beginning? Or is my brain failing me once more?

No, you're quite right. They cut the price in half when they released TBK2.

Ah, thanks for the info. Not a bad idea to get that price down, it does sound lovely but as you say, it's a bit lacking in features....
