Cache Problem

Post by ChuckyBronsun » Wed Mar 14, 2007 3:30 am

Whenever I try to drag a sample from my library into a scene, a pop-up will appear telling me that the file that I'm trying to drag in is "too large of a file to be decoded". However the file is a 13.2 mb mpeg although the pop-up recognizes it as being 57 mb for some reason. It tells me that I can change the cache size in preferences from my defaut 500mb setting to something else. It doesn't fix the problem when I change it.

What can I do? This problem is preventing me from adding any new files to an open project.

Thanks,

Chucky

What kind of audio file is it, MP3 file, sounds like Live talks about the uncompressed WAV file when it talks about the bigger size. Last weekend I dragged in 16 big MP3 files into a longer project without a problem, so it would be good to explain your config, what you are trying to do, the file types, and so on... --Kent

Hi,

The 57 Mb is the size required to decode the compressed file into a Wav file. You can empty the cache from the Preferences, File/Folder tab, by clicking the 'cleanup' button. then you can adjust the 'minimum freespace' value, which ensures that this much space is always kept empty on your HDD, and you can turn ON or OFF a maximum size for the cache.

The location of the cache is the same as the one chosen in the 'Temporary Folder' section.
