Decoding Cache - backing up sets

I realised when backing up my Live sets that some of my audio tracks are being stored in the "decoding cache" not in my Ableton library.

When I delete these files and open my arrangement Ableton seems to scan half of the audio files again although after this all warp information is intact.

Can someone tell me what is going on please? I thought all my audio and asd files would be safe in one place.

which version of Live are you using? And what exact method are you using to back up your sets? Where are they saved?

I'm using 6.0.5 and just trying to backup set by copying my Ableton tracks folder..

Hi,

I f I understand your problem right: you are using compressed audio files. Live has to decompress these to a decoding folder, that's right, but as you noticed, if you've already worked on the Warp markers, these are intact.

It is simply the way Live manages compressed audio files, and it should not be a problem. Doesn't it work well for you right now?

I'm having a similar problem, everytime I do ANYNTHING on Live 6 a WAV file is created inside the decoding cache folder but ridiculously, even when I play a synth a file is created shrinking my HD very fast.
What if I use those WAV files created inside the decoding cache folder for my DJ set?
Would it make things easier?

Hi,

When playing a synth, Live does not create a Wav file. It does if you freeze a track containing a synth. Freezing is equivalent to a rendering, but you keep the possibility to unfreeze. So there needs to be a Wav file created.

Now, using the wav file in your decoding cache should not change a thing, as far as I know, but what would be the advantage?
