my homestudio is a mess!

Post by abletoff » Mon Mar 26, 2007 1:57 pm

Hi, my studio is a damn mess.

I'd like to make it clearer and more usable, i'd need some inclination for the SL and the tonelab, beside some more idead. For example, wWhat are those nice studio tubular structures you all seem to have? The ones presumably modular, invented to fill up with gear (and that i can't find any photo of, btw)?

Yes but not all at the same time, they're more outlet replicators than power sources. On the first there's the main things, pc and monitors, on the second the preamps, third is fx, they're almost never on at the same time. But it's a mess anyways!

Put the SL or both of the Behringer controllers on top of this:

One of these in the rack:

One of these mounted inside the back of the rack:

Have this set-up to your side where the BCR2000 is. Move your CPU beside it to cut down cable noodling. Put all of your rack gear in the rack, put that tape deck in the rack at the bottom with the other stereo-deck looking box on top of it.

I would decouple your speakers from that surface with MoPads. Consider ditching the speaker stands you have, and have your speakers standing vertically on the desk with MoPads under them. Nearfields are designed with the intention of the user having stand vertically, not on their side. Your ears are supposed to be in the area between the tweeter and woofer. Their response is skewed the way you have it.

On second thought... You're in Italy. As buy something similar to the Furmans. They're not 220v.

Thanks McBoob and everyone, those are all great suggestions! I'm browsing the links aplenty!

Quiklok is Italian company, could be better but they practically only suppliers of studio kind of gear, good for stage too.

I know the Jerker... the table is n fact a Jerker desktop, the 2nd monitor stands on one of those flappy wings you can stick at Jerker sides, which can also be attached at the desktop Jerker Legs. My studio is actually an all- Ikea+madeinChina instruments-studiotheory and it works quite nicely. But it's a mess!

I was referring to those tubular-modular structures i've seen in some photos in other threads... and yes QuikLok is an italian company but everything they made costs more in italy than anywhere else. :(
