Live show setup question.

Post by weaveofkev » Fri Apr 06, 2007 3:09 am

I have a MacBook Pro and a decent audio interface for live shows. I'm trying to fatten my sound and make the computer sound more "musical" before they go out to the audience.
Does anyone out there use other their personal outboard gear such as compressors, limiters, or preamps to make a bigger.warmer sound for their live performances? I am really curious about this. Can you folks help out :?: :?: :?:

Thanks in advance..as you guys always come through.

the sound quality at most venues is going to be so bad that it probably won't make a difference...

however , for recording , you might look into a tube preamp to warm things up. i think that company "art" makes one that is pretty affordable

I thought that Squarepusher rider description that was posted here ages ago was cool.

He asks that the PA has heaps of big subs...... but then the cool bit....

He asks for some sweet mutli-band valve compressor on the master, at
sound check it's tuned until the sound is massive..... Then it's switched off
until Squarepusher comes on..... Instant "Bigger then everyone else".

Yeah. That sounds very interesting. I'd like to get more information on this subject.

Thanks.
