Hi all...next week Im getting a new Mac because my last soundcard (Firewire Audiophile) fried my motherboard...this issue has been documented in the M-Audio site and is well-known. Im surprised I have seen no posts regarding this problem. Anyway, it only happens when you connect/disconnect Firewire hardware when your Mac is turned ON. You can still use Firewire Soundcards safely if you connect/disconnect with the computer OFF, but any accidental disconnection can ruin in your Mac.
This is why my next soundcard has to be USB 2.0. I am looking for a VERY reliable soundcard for live presentations, so mid-set crashes are not an option. Also at least 2 stereo outputs and headphone cueing on both chanels...better sound quality than the bulit in Macbook sound card would be nice. Of course this soundcard has to be Ableton Live 5 and 6 compatible.
I have seen the following options, any opinions on them?
Native Instruments Audio 8 DJ

Native Instruments Audio Kontrol 1

M-Audio Fast Track Pro

M-Audio Torq Conectiv

Any other soundcard recomendations?
Thanks!!
