I have allways the same Problem when installing Live, I want to drag and drop the Live folder in den Application folder of my HD and than it starts to install, but then allway the same Fault:"
the ... couldn't be finished, because there is already a file with the name "packingsection.tif" existing after that, I can just click OK, and the installation aborts and Live doesn't work!

the funny thing, it allway occures an other Filename and I now already deleted every file of live 6.05 (that i had installed and working before) but
I still have the problem!

the files I removed

(user/library/application support/ableton/live 6.0.5/unlock/Unlock.cfg) this one I didn't remove!

user/library/application support/Ableton Live Engine

user/library/preferences/com.ableton.live.plist

user/library/preferences/Ableton/Live 6.0

PLEASE HELP

Hello,

Where do you drag the new Live folder? You should not drag it inside another Live folder. Does that happen if you drag the Live 6.0.7 folder at the root of your application folder?

Amaury

Hi,

You mean that you drag the Live 6.0.7 folder to the root of your Applecation folder, and get that error? Wehre is that file already present, does it tell?

Can you try dragging the Live 6.0.7 folder to your desktop, for example. to see what happens?

Amaury

Yes, it doesn't tell me where the Files are present, it alway mentions an other File, like this time Der Vorgang konnte nicht abgeschlossen werden, da bereits ein Objekt mit dem Namen "overdub.tif" existiert.

Yes i tried, the same mistake:" Der Vorgang konnte nicht abgeschlossen werden, da bereits ein Objekt mit dem Namen "Eject02.tif" existiert.
I tried it now a second time, and now it worked, asked me for an empty Library, to install the Live Library and than I aborted, because I don't want Live on my Desktop..

Okay, did you drag the folder from the desktop, to the same location as you chose before, when trying to drag the folder directly?

I mean, logically, that does not make sense that it works dragging from the desktop, but not from the dmg image.

It works now, fine, but let me know next time. I would be courious to find out what the reason is.

shit it still doesn't works right...

I want to save old files in 6.07 sel contained and it tells me index nicht verfügbar, unable to find database file...
and it also wasn't able to search files it told me live konnte nicht auf den Such-Index zugreifen und wird deswegen keine Samples finden können. Bitte überprüfen Sie ihre Einstellungen, insbesondere die Zugriffsrechte Ihrer Installationwtf

I had Ableton live on a pc already over 1.5 years(made updates and everything) and never had all this problems, this whole thing angers me!!!

How can I delete Live completly of my computer, to install it clean again?

Hi,

You should definitely contact support as a mail exchange will make things easier, and more, they understand German. I don't!

Give a link to that thread.

To completely delte Live, you would have to delete the application folder(s) and the preferences folder(s). You could also delete the Live Library if it does not contain custom files. Don't delete the unlock.cfg key, as you would have to re-authorize Live, and that key does not affect the behaviour of the software.

Also, before doing these, you should repair permissions, using that tool:
http://www.ableton.com/_common/download ... ns.dmg.sit

Hi Amaury,

what is the advantage using this utility over Mac OSX's Disk Utility "Verify/Repair permissions" ?

Thanks

Hi,

You're right, the built in Utility will check the whole computer's permissions, so it is a good idea in the case of idealist to run it.

The one I linked only checks for Ableton files. I just found out.
