Techno lovers!: Tresor reopens as Modem !!!

Post by Brando » Sun Apr 15, 2007 3:31 am

Sven Väth will be gracing the reopening on May 24th ;-)

As earlier reported, the spectacular new location of Berlin Based techno walhalla Tresor, which is to be housed in a former electricity facility at Kopenicker strasse. The former Tresor, which had to close its doors roughly two years ago, was undoubtedly one of the most influential venues in the realm of techno, with an impressive list of international visitors, and a coolness that seemed hard to beat.

The new location however, may well be up for the challenge, as its multi-level concrete floors, and spectacular industrial atmosphere provide the ultimate canvas for serious projections, with walls strong enough to withstand the loudest of noises. In a recent interview with newspaper Berliner Morgenpost, founding father Dimitri Hegemann, revealed the new name, Modem, and also disclosed that the venue will serve as a museum as well, and that techno icon Sven Väth opens the venue on May 24th.

Modem is a beautiful conduit between the old analogue and the new digital world. It is destined to welcome electronic and media art, as artists can use our small gallery, but there is also space for larger productions, comments Dimitri. As far as the music is concerned, the Minimal trend will not be ignored, but we will also bring artists that have built the name and fame of Tresor, including Christian Vogel, Blake Baxter and James Ruskin.

Although there is no official loveparade in Berlin this year, the new venue is most certainly a good argument to hop on a train or plane.
