live 6.0.7 and reason 3.0.4

dear people out there,
i am a newbie in live and reason, running on vista. i read, that live and vista is no good. i wanted to try anyway. now i have the problem, that when starting live as master, and reason as slave, both programs shut down. is there anyone also with pink glasses who got this started, or is there anyone who says, rather go to install windows xp?

well i have never ran vista on one of my own machines but i am a trained computer tech (windows only) and i have used a few different vista pc's

and they are sh*t windows doesn't know how to allocate ram properly .. and its the same in vista i couldn't believe how slow my friends computer was he has at least a 3ghz processor and 2gb ram and it's so slow its like running live and reason on a p2
it just wasn't happening ...

i was using xp on a sony vaio until last month i had a 1.86ghz processor and 1,5gb ram
and i was using about 20 tracks in live maybe 3 vst's and running reason .. its still a bit chuggy sometimes but if i froze the midi channels it would be fine..

i can say that vista has to much going on underneath the other applications i.e. all the windows processes to be a truly viable 64bit system

my suggestion to you is xp .. if not make the change to mac ....

And welcome on an Internet Forum
We do not support Vista, yet. Not officially. We have reports that the latest Live runs on Vista, but I'm absolutely not sure about the Rewire technology, which is what is used in the case you are describing. You should check with Properllerheads if Rewire supports vista already.

You need a different installer for your ReWire and REX library .dlls for Vista. Run it after you install Reason.

You can get the installer from the Props' website.

I also have the same problem. Live crashes about 20s after I open Reason.

Unfortunately, I have the same problem with Cubase Studio 4 and Reason, which is probably indicative of a greater issue.

Never had this problem until I started using Vista.

Ewistrand is right - There is a special Rewire for Vista installer on the Propellerheads website that'll fix you up.

Don't get fooled the way I did when I first tried installing it. During the installation Vista will warn you that the existing rewire app is actually newer than the one you're trying to install. Simply override that and you'll be good to go.
