Bad playback quality

Post by auroranoir » Mon Apr 30, 2007 7:30 am

Hello,

I've been experiencing a strange problem when recording audio. I'm not 100% sure if it has always been the case as I'm only new to Ableton. I've done some bass lines, which seem to have recorded quite fine, but when I tried to record another channel of guitar (either acoustic or electric an electric running through amp simulation) the playback quality lowers significantly. During recording, the monitoring sounds fine, but in playing back the take, it sounds very much like an old cassette tape. I considered that it may be a lack of resources in multi tracking, so I started a brand new project (after a restart) and the problem still persists. Other recording software seems to play back the recordings fine as well.

Any ideas?
Also, the Zoom ASIO driver is not supported by Ableton - is this a known issue?

Thankyou

Hi,

It is hard to tell without knowing more details about your setup, the instruments you are recording and so on. One reason for a different sound on playback could be some warping: make sure the Warp button is OFF in the detail view for your clips, before doing any comparision.

You should write to [email protected], providing the info asked for on that page:

It will be easier for discussing the issue.
