Pre Warping without asking it to

Post by jondasutra » Wed May 02, 2007 3:15 am

I got Warp off in prefrences. I load up a song. Turn Warp back on. Usually I have no markers yellow except 1. Sometimes I have 1 million yellow warp markers. Do I have a bug ? Why does this happen. Please help.

no its not bug... Every track will be "autowarped" differently. just depends on the track that Live it "trying" to Autowarp. Some tracks need more warping to keep them on time.. say live recorded tracks from bands and such, where as a electronic sequenced music with a steady clock won't need to warp much at all therefore you won't see many green warp markers.

I've noticed this as well. I find alot of the time the auto-warp feature is way off. If you turn "auto-warp long samples" off (in options) and then turn warp on in each individual song *before the song is fully loaded* the auto-generated markers won't show up. But if you turn warp on after the song loaded it's riddled with nasty markers that need to be deleted.

:P

be nice if "auto-warp long samples" would simply disable the auto-generated markers and have a serperate option for defaulting to warp being turned off.
did that make sence? :S

Yeah I've stopped using the Autowarp in Live. Actually never did use it. I don't find its accurate at all and not good enough for what I need. I manually warp every track if doing a remix or DJ set. I've also found the metronome in Live WAY OFF! I used to warp files and tracks using the metronome as a guild... but not anymore. I now use a sequence kick from a percussion synth such as microtonic or something as a metronome.

my thoughts exactly too. Feels more 'real' with a reference 1 bar kick sequence
