recording DJ sets

Post by pepypreece » Wed May 09, 2007 9:00 pm

this is how you record a DJ set.... set fire wire 410 up and turn on computer. open live 6. insert audio track. go to master column and set cue out to 1 and master out to 2, the solo sign will light up blue , press it and you will change this to, cue. and in the 1 and 2 audio column you will see headphones. go to 1 audio and down that column you will see audio to, change this to ext out, underneath will change to 1/2, do the same for column 2 audio. drop tracks in to 1 audio and 2 audio. press global record and next to that press start. go to 1 audio and start track 1 audio. press headphone sign on 2 audio and also start play. you will hear both tracks playing but only 1 audio is being recorded. press the 2 audio headphone and you will have both tracks being recorded by global record. happy days amen[/quote] i am sorry if you have tried this and it didn't work out, with a global recorded final mix. i tried it today and the results were different to the first attempt. i don know why. i have decided to connect the fire wire 410 up to a mixer, 1/2 and 3/4. with the out put to the desk top to record using a sound recording programme, to get my final mix. if anybody knows how to get the live 6 programme to record in the way i was hopping, please leave a message. many thanks, pepy

Hi Pepy

If I understand what you're trying to do corectly, this is unnecessarily complicated. Just create an audio track, arm it to record and set the input to resample.
In preferences set to start recording on scene launch.

Start your set by launching the scene with your first clip in it (not by launching the clip directly) and your mix will get recorded in the first slot. Remove the stop buttons beneath this slot to avoid the creation of new recordings should you trigger more scenes down the line.

If you're in a live situation and don't want to burden your processor with recording actual audio data you can press the global record button at the start and just let live record all your automation and mixing into the arrange window. You can then resample the whole mix later as described above.
MacBook Pro M1, 16GB Ram, 1TB.
