JL Cooper CS-32 Minidesk Help Needed

Post by waybeyondz » Thu May 10, 2007 12:38 am

I just got a JL Cooper CS-32 USB version. I am running Windows XP pro. I installed the latest software and drivers from the JL Cooper website. The JL Cooper software recognizes the device. However, the unit does not register in Live as a MIDI device. Can someone please provide some advice? Thanks for your help.

i tried for about an hour once in a shop to get one of these working on my laptop and gave up in the end... great idea, but their support for pc is woeful! i believe i asked them if they were going to improve the drivers and got a reply that bordered on hostile to the effect that they aren't really interested in it. and the fact that they haven't released a driver for pc since 2004 kind of shows that.... from memory it doesn't show up as a midi controller and you have to have the crap beta assignments software running to route it's output through something like midiyoke into live. i think i may have managed to get live to see a little bit of the midi it was sending but the messages seemed screwed up and the assignments in software were entirely unrelated to what i was getting out of it.

good luck with it, but my advice really would be to get your money back if you can!

I got the CS-32 to work. I downloaded the CS-32 USB to MIDI drivers, which seem to work fine so far. You can't change the MIDI values that the controller sends, but Ableton is recognizing the controller and the Learn function works.

If you visit the JL Cooper website, the driver from 5/15/03 is the one that works, not the Beta mapping software from 2/6/04.
