Recording Volume very low

Post by cainullah » Sun May 13, 2007 3:57 pm

Hi,

I have an M-Audio Fast Track Pro with a dual 1/4" Jack to dual 1/4" Jack coming out of my DJ Mixer and into my Input on the Fast Track Pro.

I have a track in Ableton armed to record the input from the Fast Track Pro. The volume on my DJ mixer is at 0DB. However, the volume levels in Ableton are so low I am hardly able to hear it at all.

What am I doing wrong. How do I up the gain for the recording levels in Ableton?

Thanks for any help.

do you see the green input light burn on the FTP?
If not (or only hardly) turn up the gain on the ftp. (or check the output of your mixer)
In ableton: pull up the channel fader and master fader.

Hope this helps.

I have the gain set to full on the Fast Track pro but I'm getting no green signal light. I have a two Master Outputs on the Mixer. Output 1 is 1/4" Jack and Output 2 is RCA Phono. The RCA phono is plugged into my amp and I'm getting a great sound through the speakers. I then also have my 1/4" Jack connected to the inserts on the FTP. No gain however.

I don't think this is a problem with the mixer or the leads so I am incredibly confused.

Can you get a signal into the ftp with any other device (guitar, iPod)?
Can you plug the RCA output into the ftp with an RCA to jack adaptor?
Is anything plugged into the insert jacks? If so, remove it.

Good luck
