i'm new to trying to live still, and attempting to remix a track for a friend. i'm attempting to record a simple hand clap to incoporate.
but all my attempts to record a hand clap seem to fall thin. they are loud enough, but they don't seem to have any "body."
is this simply the room i'm recording in or is there wizardry to be done post-recording by adding effects and such?
thanks!

Use a space that makes the clap sound the way you want, then try to get that sound recorded.
Try using more than one mic, a bit away from your hands, to catch different sounds from different places in the room & blend them.
Also, pay attention to the way you clap. Cup your palms slightly & clap them together to give it more 'pop', rather than clapping with your fingers across your palm.
These are off the top of my head. If you give a little more detail about how you're doing things, maybe you can get some other advice.
