Hi,
I'm new with Ableton Sampler:
Can sampler be used on audio tracks? On the demo found on their website, the guy records an audio track, then drops it on the Sampler window. I'm doing the same thing but everytime I drop Sampler on Devices, it creates a new Midi Track instead.

No it can't be loaded on an audio track. What you see is the guy recording on to an audio track in a clip then dragging that on the a sampler instance on a midi track.
Works fine

Thank you for that info. What book or material would you recommend when learning Sampler? I'm afraid to post "too basic" questions on this forum for fear I might get flamed for it.

Grab the live manual
under the live instruments reference chapter.
Should be a really great start.
Have fun, sampler is a real great instrument once you dig into it
