Gear ~ Need Urgent Help on Ableton and FCB 1010 pedal!
Im using a FCB midi controller pedal. im using a m-audio midi interface to usb. when i plug the midi in of the cable to the midi out of the pedal nothing happeans. i dont know what i should be looking for but im guessing that the fcb name should pop up in the midi section of ableton, which it isnt. the name of the maudio UNO interface is showing, which isnt what i really want. all i want to do this change presets in ableton with this pedal. i dont understand why its so hard. im going to cry.
Also, in ableton there is the input and out put section, both which shows the m audio midi. there are 3 sections track sync and remote. which one of these should i turn on guys?
Lots of love xxx

Hello,
If you plugged the FCB MIDI out to your Uno MIDI card, then you're only going to see the Uno in the Live MIDI Preferences, that is what to expect. You would only have to enable the 'Remote' button in the 'Input' section of the MIDI Preferences for the Uno, and you should be able to map things in Live to your FCB.
Regards,
Amaury

have you tried something like Midiox to see if the pedals are sending midi signals and if they are actually hitting the computer?
midiox is a utility program which will show you all the data coming in and out of selected midi ports. google it to get the download (free)
if you have no midi signals coming in then I expect the preset on the fcb is not sending midi, so you need to do a bit of programming on the fcb to make sure that is actually outputing something.
never forget that the number 1 cause of problems like this is bad cables, the number 2 cause is bad plugs. check em before you do anything!

Midiox is for pcs, cant find one for the mac. iv managed to program i preset on the fcb but when it came to the final part of actually setting the command in ableton, it just didnt respond.im guessing that because the signal isnt actually going to the mac. the m audio midi interface is actually striaght out the box so i dont know. how do you actually program the fcb to make sure its sending out messages cause shouldnt it do that itself. ?

OK you actually have to rtfm on the FCB. All the initial patches in the FCB are program changes messages, which Live isn't going to necessarily respond to, you need to program a bank in the FCB to send MIDI notes for the buttons, and proper CC's for the volume pedals yourself. The FCB out of the box is set up for Bheringer guitar amplifiers, and doesn't really click with Live.bearduckchicken wrote:Midiox is for pcs, cant find one for the mac. iv managed to program i preset on the fcb but when it came to the final part of actually setting the command in ableton, it just didnt respond.im guessing that because the signal isnt actually going to the mac. the m audio midi interface is actually striaght out the box so i dont know. how do you actually program the fcb to make sure its sending out messages cause shouldnt it do that itself. ?
What I did was set up the switches to send the absolute lowest MIDI notes, and the pedals for volume and pitch CC's. I never use the program change part of the pedal, but I suppose I could, it's just easier to set it up in Live.
It's not too bad, but you do have to set it up.

foot pedals
Hi everyone
I've got a Rolls mp80 midi foot control pedal(I used to use it to change midi on my processors for my guitar).I would like to use it to control Ableton Live.I've set it up in preferences using my midi ports on my Emu 1820m,but can't get Live to read the midi information from my foot presses.Does it need the Behringer FC1010 or similar? or can I get it going with my footpedal?
Anyone who has a Behringer FC1010 (I might have to be one soon also),I found this link:http://www.mtnsys.com/faq-fcb/PCEditorBeta.htm
It's a midi editor for the FC1010.
